New radio home for Sens hockey on COOL 100 and Q-107
October 4, 2006 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators are proud to announce that they have entered into a one-year agreement with Equinox Broadcasting Corporation that will place all regular season and post-playoff broadcasts on the FM side of the radio dial for the 2006-07 season.
COOL 100 (WCDW-FM 100.5 & 95.1) will kick off the coverage this weekend as it will air both games Saturday against the Syracuse Crunch (6:45 p.m. air time) and Sunday as the Sens entertain the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (4:45 p.m. air time).
Q-107 (WRRQ-FM 106.7) will become the primary home for B-Sens game night coverage once it goes on the air. Q-107 is expected to be operational within two weeks. In the interim, Senators game night broadcasts will air on COOL 100.
"As an organization, we are extremely pleased that we were able to place our games on the FM side of the dial," said Grady Whittenburg, Director of Broadcasting for the Senators. "It was a priority from the first day we were in business in 2002 and Equinox stepped to the plate this past spring and got things moving forward."
Along with local over-the-air coverage on Equinox properties, fans can access the same audio feed via an on-line link that can be activated through the club's official web site at www.binghamtonsenators.com.
Each broadcast will air 20 minutes prior to faceoff with the pre-game show. An extended "Pre" Pre-Game Show is in development for what will be termed "Hockey Night in Binghamton" prior to Saturday night home games. The show is expected to debut November 4th at 6 p.m. and will air live from the Arena Club at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena followed by that night's regular pre-game show.
"We're certainly excited with putting a new station on the air," George Hawras, President of Equinox Broadcasting Corporation stated. "And with a premier sports entity in the Senators partnering with us, that excitement is doubled and the potential for both groups is tremendous."
Tickets are still available for opening weekend. Fans can purchase tickets at the Senators front office on third floor of the Arena. That office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Fans can also purchase tickets by calling 722-SENS.
