
Canucks claim goaltender Dany Sabourin off waivers

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks Senior Vice-President and General Manager Dave Nonis announced today that the Canucks have claimed goaltender Dany Sabourin off waivers.
Sabourin, 26, played 49 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the 2005-06 season posting a record of 30-14-4 a GAA of 2.26 and a .922 save percentage. Sabourin also recorded four shutouts last season and played six playoff games with Wilkes-Barre.
At the close of the 2005-06 season, Sabourin led all AHL goaltender's with a 2.26 GAA and a .922 save percentage. The backstop was named to the AHL's First All-Star Team and won the Aldege Bastien Award as the league's outstanding goaltender. Sabourin also collected the Harry Holmes Award for posting the lowest team GAA.
Sabourin has played a career total of five NHL games between the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he played one game last season, and the Calgary Flames.
The 6-foot-4, 200 lbs., native of Val d'Or, Quebec was Calgary's fifth choice, 108th overall in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
