Columbus Assigns Picard to Syracuse

Syracuse, NY (October 3, 2006) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned left wing Alexandre Picard to Syracuse.

Picard, 20, appeared in 45 games with Syracuse last season, recording 15 goals, 15 assists and 54 penalty minutes. In 17 games with Columbus last season, Picard registered 14 penalty minutes. A native of Les Saules, Quebec, Picard was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round, 8th overall, in the 2004 Entry Draft.

Syracuse opens their 13th AHL season on October 6 in Toronto against the Marlies. Game time is 7:30 p.m. The Crunch opens at home for the special Express Mart Opening Night on Friday, October 13 against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
