Hartford Wolf Pack News Release
HARTFORD, December 18, 2015: Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Wolf Pack has recalled goaltender Jeff Malcolm from its ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, and that the Wolf Pack has signed defenseman Nick Petrecki to a Professional Tryout (PTO) agreement.
Malcolm, a third-year pro out of Yale University, has made three appearances for the Wolf Pack this season, playing a total of just over 151 minutes. He is 1-1-0 and has allowed six goals on 64 shots, for a 2.38 GAA and a 90.6% save percentage. In nine ECHL games with Greenville, Malcolm is 5-2-2, with a 3.40 goals-against average and an 89.4% save percentage.
Petrecki, a 26-year-old seventh-year pro, has skated in 14 games this season with the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL, notching six assists and 20 penalty minutes. The former San Jose Sharks first-round draft pick (28th overall in 2007) also was a +11 for Elmira, good for tops among team defensemen and a tie for best overall on the club. Petrecki, 6-3 and 227 pounds, spent last season with the AHL's Rochester Americans, suiting up for 19 games and registering two assists and 56 PIM.
A native of Schenectady, NY, Petrecki played in one NHL game during his four-plus seasons in the Sharks organization, and has skated in 310 career AHL contests with the Worcester Sharks and the Americans. He has totals of 8-41-49, with 615 PIM in his AHL action. Prior to turning pro, Petrecki played two seasons at Boston College, winning an NCAA title with the Eagles as a freshman in 2007-08.
The Wolf Pack are back in action tonight, as they continue a stretch of five straight road games with a visit to Rochester to take on the Americans. Faceoff is 7:05 PM, and all of the action can be heard live on-line at www.979espn.com and www.newsradio1410.com, and on iHeartRadio. Video streaming is available at www.ahllive.com.
The Wolf Pack's next home game is Tuesday, December 29, when the Wolf Pack host the Portland Pirates in a 7:00 game. That is Scout Night at the XL Center. Scout groups that reserve in advance receive discounted tickets and special Scout Night patches.
