Binghamton Senators News Release
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators were shut out by the Syracuse Crunch with goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy picking up the 4-0 win.
The Crunch took a 1-0 lead after Cameron Darcy tipped home his second score of the season on Syracuse's first power-play chance 14:44 into the opening period. Syracuse took their one-goal advantage into the first intermission with Vasilevskiy stopping all 10 of the B-Sens shots over the first 20 minutes while Chris Driedger turned aside 9 of 10 faced.
Syracuse increased their lead to 2-0 courtesy of a redirected puck off Daniel Walcott's stick 7:46 into the middle frame. The period turned chippy just past the midway point with the teams combining for 50 penalty minutes through the remainder of the middle frame before the horn sounded sending the teams to the final intermission.
Syracuse doubled their lead bringing the final score to 4-0 in the last period of play after Dylan Blujus and Tye McGinn scored for the Crunch.
Driedger stopped 27 shots in the losing effort while Vasilevskiy had 27 saves for the shutout win.
The B-Sens are back home tomorrow when they host the Lehigh Valley Phantoms at 7:05p.m. For tickets call (607)722-SENS from 8:00a.m. until the second intermission.
