Penguins Sign Goalie Casey DeSmith

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed goaltender Casey DeSmith to a professional tryout contract.

DeSmith has appeared in two games with the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) this year. The rookie posted a 2.01 goals against average and .923 save percentage in 89:33 of game time.

DeSmith, 24, is in his first professional season after playing three years at the University of New Hampshire. While with the Wildcats, DeSmith appeared in 97 games, compiling a 48-36-8 record, a goals against average of 2.32, and a .923 save percentage.

In his sophomore season at UNH, DeSmith placed second in Hockey East in goals against average (2.04) and save percentage (.933).
