
Wizards Win Thriller vs. Fort Worth

BISMARCK, N.D. January 19, 2007: After jumping out to a commanding first half lead the Dakota Wizards, led by forward James Maye's 33 points were able to hold off the Ft Worth Flyers 113 "" 111 in a battle between the top two teams in the NBA Development Leagues Eastern Division.
The Wizards used a well balanced attack early to lead by as many as 26 and took a 64 "" 43 lead into halftime. Forward Quemont Greer continued his scoring prowess with 29 points on the night including 17 in the first half.
"Whether we had won our lost that game, I was really proud of them". said Wizards coach Dave Joerger" We made tired people's mistakes - slow passes, standing up out of our stance and letting them blow right past us. They just kept gutting out like they've been doing for the last three or four weeks"
The shorthanded Wizards, who increased their record to a league best 15-4, were helped off the bench by forward Rod Benson with his 13 point contribution to go with his team high 10 boards.
The Flyers now 12-6 on the season, had six players in double figures including guard Kevin Burleson with 23 points. Also in double figures were forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu, 16 points and 11 rebounds, and guard Jose Barea, 22 points and seven assist, both of who are on assignment in the D-League from the Dallas Mavericks.
The Dakota Wizards and Ft Worth Flyers match up for a second meeting tomorrow night in the Bismarck Civic Center. Tipoff is 7:00 p.m.
