Warriors Re-Assign O'Bryant To NBA Developmental League
January 19, 2007 - NBA G League (G League)
Bakersfield Jam News Release
OAKLAND, CA - The Golden State Warriors have re-assigned center Patrick O'Bryant to the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin announced today. O'Bryant, 20, was previously assigned to the Jam on December 30 before being recalled this past Wednesday (January 17) and playing in the Warriors game in Los Angeles against the Clippers that evening. Against the Clippers, he tallied five points, one rebound, three assists and two blocks in 10 minutes of action. Overall with Golden State this season, the 7'0'' center has appeared in 13 games, averaging 1.9 points and 1.1 rebounds in 7.7 minutes per contest. During his previous sojourn in the D-League, O'Bryant appeared in six games (all starts), averaging 6.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.33 blocks in 23.2 minutes per contest.
O'Bryant is the first Warriors player to be assigned to the D-League since the current affiliation system began during the 2005-06 season. Under the system, NBA teams can assign up to two players who are rookies or in their second season to their D-League affiliate. Players can stay with the D-League team for as long as the team wishes, and be recalled back to the NBA at any time. However, a player can only be sent to the D-League a maximum of three times during the season.
