Withrow Rejoins Isotopes; Castro to Disabled List

Right-handed pitcher Chris Withrow rejoins the Albuquerque Isotopes today, August 31 after being optioned by the Los Angeles Dodgers yesterday. In a corresponding move, right-handed pitcher Angel Castro has been placed on the disabled list with a right calf strain.

Withrow, who has had two stints with the Dodgers this season, posted a 2-0 record with a 3.38 ERA (9 ER/24.0 IP) in 17 appearances. In 24 appearances with the Isotopes this season, the 24-year-old hurler is 4-0 with a 1.78 ERA (5 ER/ 25.1 IP) with 32 strikeouts and 12 walks.

Right-handed starter Angel Castro leads the team in wins after beginning the year in the bullpen and moving over to his starting role. Castro tossed six innings of two-run ball last night in New Orleans.The Dominican import is 8-5 with a 3.48 ERA (45 ER/ 116.1 IP) in 25 games this season. He has had four scoreless outings, 12 quality starts and has gone seven innings in five games, while allowing just seven home runs in his 116.1 IP.

Game two of the four-game series with New Orleans, and the third-to-last game of the 2013 season, will be tonight. Matt Palmer starts for Albuquerque. Jared Rogers gets the ball for New Orleans. First pitch is at 5 pm MT and can be heard on 610 "The Sports Animal" with Josh Suchon on the call.
