
Wisler Named TL Pitcher of the Week

San Antonio - The San Antonio Missions are proud to announce that Matt Wisler was named Texas League Pitcher of the Week for August 19-25.
The 20-year-old, right hander made two starts this past week, allowing a total of just three hits and no walks, while striking out 11 over nine shutout innings.
Wisler has been one of the top pitchers in all of Minor League Baseball over his last six starts, where he's gone 4-0 with a minuscule 0.58 ERA and an incredible K:BB ratio of 37:5. During that stretch, he's second in MiLB in WHIP at 0.61, fourth in ERA and seventh in OPP AVG at .139.
In 19 starts at the Double-A level, Wisler is 8-4 with a 2.67 ERA, allowing just 77 hits in 101 innings, while sporting an impressive K:BB ratio of 97:27. Since his May 12 debut, he's third in the TL in strikeouts, tied for third in wins, fourth in both WHIP at 1.03 and OPP AVG at .212 and fifth in ERA.
This is the second award in 2013 for Wisler, who was named TL Pitcher of the Week for July 1- 7.
San Diego selected Wisler in the 7th round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of Bryan High School in Bryan, OH. He's currently the Padres' fifth-ranked prospect according to MLB.com.
