
Big Inning Boosts Travelers to Victory

SPRINGDALE, Ark - A five run third inning gave the Arkansas Travelers all of the offense they would need in a 9-5 victory over the Northwest Arkansas Naturals on Monday night. With the win, the Travelers expand their lead in the North Division to two games over the Naturals with seven games remaining in the season.
Robbie Widlansky reached on a leadoff walk in the third inning with the Travs holding a 3-1 lead. Widlansky would score on a throwing error by Naturals starter Jason Adam following a bunt single by Ryan Jones. Kaleb Cowart followed with a single that scored Jimmy Swift, with a two-run double by Randal Grichuk being the big hit in the inning. A bases-loaded walk scored Jett Bandy for the final run in the inning. Bandy led off the fifth inning with a single and scored on a groundout to give North Little Rock a 9-2 lead.
Jorge Bonifacio's three-run home run to left field in the seventh inning cut the Naturals deficit to 9-5. Juan Graterol reached on a one-out single, while Orlando Calixte worked a two out walk prior to Bonifacio's blast. The Naturals went down in order in the final two innings.
The Travelers took a 1-0 lead in the first as Grichuk led off with a double and scored on a Widlansky sacrifice fly. The Naturals answered with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the frame as Brett Eibner and Jorge Bonifacio scored on a Lane Adams triple. North Little Rock scored a pair of runs in the second inning on a Bandy double and a Cowart single.
Mike Piazza earned his sixth win of the season, allowing two runs on five hits with three walks and six strikeouts in six innings. Manny Correa earned his first save of the season, allowing three runs on two hits with one walk and two strikeouts in three innings.
Jason Adam was charged with the loss, allowing eight runs on nine hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 2.1 innings of work.
The Naturals welcome the Tulsa Drillers to Springdale for the final home series of the season tomorrow at 7 p.m. Sugar Ray Marimon (6-13, 4.52 ERA) will start for the Naturals. Eddie Butler (1-0, 0.45 ERA) is scheduled to start for Tulsa.
