Wishart Named Player of the Week

CALGARY, AB- The BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week is defenseman Ty Wishart of the Prince George Cougars.

Wishart earned player of the week honours by recording a goal and six assists, and a +4 rating in three games during the week of March 5th to March 11th, leading the Cougars to a 2-1 record in that span.

On Tuesday, March 6th, Wishart notched an assist as the Cougars dropped a 4-3 decision to the visiting Calgary Hitmen.

On Friday, March 9th, Wishart scored a goal and added two assists as the Cougars defeated B.C. Division rivals the Kamloops Blazers 8-1 in Prince George. He was named the game's 2nd star.

On Saturday, March 10th, Wishart chipped in three assists, including setting up the game-winner, as the Cougars beat the visiting Blazers for the second straight night with a 4-2 victory in Prince George. He was also named the game's 3rd star.

Wishart, an 18-year-old from Comox, B.C., is in his third WHL season with the Cougars, and has already posted a career-high 11 goals and 49 points this season. He was the San Jose Sharks' 1st round selection (16th overall) at the 2006 NHL Draft.
