
Wheat Kings make plans for awards banquet

Brandon, Manitoba -- Tickets are on sale now for the Brandon Wheat Kings' 2007 Awards Banquet, scheduled for Sunday, March 18th at the Royal Oak Inn and Suites.
Serving as master of ceremonies this year will be the play-by-play voice of the Wheat Kings - 880 CKLQ's Bruce Luebke.
In addition to announcing this year's award winners, including the Manitoba Hydro Turk Broda Top Manitoba Born Player, the Meighen Haddad & Co. Most Valuable Player and the Koch Fertilizer John Scott Kent Most Sportsmanlike Player, Tyler Crayston from CKX / Chum TV will premiere the official 2006-07 Wheat Kings' Highlight Video.
Cocktails are scheduled for 5 p.m., with dinner to follow at six o'clock. The awards program will begin at approximately 7 p.m.

On the ice, the Wheat Kings will bring the curtain down on their 2006-07 WHL regular season this weekend with a home and home series with the Regina Pats, beginning Friday night at the Keystone Centre and wrapping up the following night at the Brandt Centre in Regina.
The Wheat Kings are coming off Saturday's 3-2 loss in Swift Current, snapping Brandon's season high 9-game win streak. Friday's win over Prince Albert meanwhile clinched third place in the Eastern Conference. Brandon enters the week with a record of 40-20-2-8.
