CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Six unanswered runs lifted the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers to a 6-2 victory Sunday afternoon against the Cedar Rapids Kernels at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The Kernels (53-43) still won the series, 4-2, and also became the Minor League Baseball leader in strikeouts. Cedar Rapids pitchers have struck out 1,056 batters this year.

Sunday's contest opened with a pair of Kernels tallies. Wander Javier's RBI single in the first inning drove in Edouard Julien. Jeferson Morales came home via wild pitch within the second inning for a 2-0 Cedar Rapids lead. While the Kernels built their advantage, Ryan Shreve tossed five strikeouts over two shutout innings in his first start of the season.

The Timber Rattlers (45-50) blasted their way to a 3-2 edge by the end of the fifth. Joey Wiemer sent a two-run home run to left-center field that leveled the contest in the third. Felix Valerio broke the tie with his fifth-inning solo shot over the left-field fence.

Wisconsin padded its lead during the seventh and eighth innings. Carlos Rodriguez's single in the seventh plated Yeison Coca. Joe Gray Jr. and Antonio Piñero added RBI singles within the top of the eighth that set the final score at 6-2 Timber Rattlers.

TJ Shook (1-0) worked around two runs and a career-high five walks to pitch five frames and win his High-A debut. Cristían Sierra and Harold Chirino each earned holds in relief, and Wilton, Iowa native Evan Reifert garnered the save.

Aaron Rozek (0-1) made his first High-A appearance but yielded three runs over four innings in a loss. Shreve, Rozek, Osiris German, Melvi Acosta, and Denny Bentley combined for 13 strikeouts and just one walk.
