The Portland Winterhawks have signed three 16-year-old players: forwards Ryan Hughes and Bronson Sharp, and goaltender Ethan Middendorf.
Hughes had 34 goals and 31 assists for 65 points in 35 games last season with the Edmonton CAC Canadians Minor Midget AAA team of the Alberta Minor Midget Hockey League.
Sharp totaled 24 goals and 27 assists for 51 points in 30 games with the Yale Academy Elite 15s (Abbotsford, British Columbia) of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League.
Middendorf, a native of Scottsdale, Arizona, had a goals against average of 2.29 and .895 save percentage in seven games with the Arizona Bobcats 16U team in the North American Prospects Hockey League.
"Ryan Hughes is a very creative player with a combination of speed, vision and excellent puck skills. Bronson Sharp plays a 200-foot game and is tough to play against while contributing offensively," said Portland Winterhawks General Manager & Head Coach Jamie Kompon. "Ethan Middendorf is a large goaltender who competes in the net. He has really elevated his game and we believe he has a great future with the Winterhawks."
