Winterhawks Share 2021-22 Regular Season Schedule

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Winterhawks, proud member club of the Western Hockey League (WHL), shared their 2021-22 regular season schedule today, following the WHL's release of the full Western Conference schedule.

The Winterhawks will play a total of 68 regular season games (34 home and 34 away), opening their 46th season on Friday, October 1 at the Toyota Center against the Tri-City Americans in Kennewick, WA. The team's home opener will come one day later, Saturday, October 2 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum against the rival Seattle Thunderbirds.

VENUE & START TIMES

The Winterhawks announced earlier this summer that all 34 home games for the 2021-22 season will be played at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

The start time (PT) for all home games, sorted by day of the week, are listed below:

Games Monday through Friday: 7:00 p.m.

Saturday Games: 6:00 p.m.

Sunday Games: 5:00 p.m.

Friday, November 26 (Black Friday): 4:00 p.m.

SCHEDULE BREAKDOWN

The WHL's scheduling format will see the Winterhawks play all 68 games against teams in the Western Conference. Portland will play each U.S. Division team a total of 12 times (six home, six road) and each B.C. Division team four times (two home, two road).

Portland's longest road trip will take place from October 29 - November 13, featuring six games and six different opponents in six different cities (Everett, Kamloops, Kelowna, Vancouver, Seattle and Tri-City).

The Winterhawks' season-long home stand will be ten games, immediately following their longest road trip of the season, November 19 - December 14. During that stretch the team will host the following games:

Wednesday, November 24 vs. Vancouver (7:00 p.m.)

Friday, November 26 vs. Kamloops (4:00 p.m.)

Saturday, December 4 vs. Victoria (6:00 p.m.)

Sunday, December 5 vs. Everett (5:00 p.m.)

Friday, December 10 vs. Spokane (7:00 p.m.)

The Winterhawks busiest month of the season will be January containing 13 games. The 2021-22 schedule contains 21 back-to-back sets, four sets of three games in three days and one stretch of four games in five days.

HOLIDAY BREAK

The 2021 WHL Season will once again pause for its annual holiday break. The Winterhawks will not play games from December 19-27 and the team's offices are expected to be closed during that time.

WINTERHAWKS 2021-22 FULL SEASON MEMBERSHIPS START AS LOW AS $374 PER SEAT

Full season memberships for the 2021-22 season are on sale now. In addition, 20-game plans are also available, which start as low as $11 per seat, per game.

Smaller ticket packages and single game tickets will be made available later this summer.

DATES TO REMEMBER:

October 1: Season opener against the Tri-City Americans in Kennewick, WA.

October 2: Home opener against the Seattle Thunderbirds at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

October 8: The Winterhawks will meet the reigning U.S. Division Champion Everett Silvertips for the first time in the 'Tips home opener at Angel of the Winds Arena.

October 27: The Victoria Royals are slated to travel to Portland, marking the first non-U.S. Division game for the 'Hawks since March 8, 2020 - the final contest of the 2019-20 season.

November 3: Portland is set to travel to Kamloops, their first game in Canada since Saturday, February 8. (634 Days)

November 26: The team's annual Black Friday game will begin at 4 p.m. against Kamloops.

December 31: Start your New Year's Eve at Veterans Memorial Coliseum versus Seattle.

January 1: 2022 begins with a game on the very first day in Everett.

April 1: Final road game of the regular season.

April 2: The regular season comes to a close with one final Battle Against Seattle.

A full promotional schedule will be released by the team later this summer.
