Prospect Pohlkamp to Participate in USA Hockey's Select 17s Development Camp

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Winterhawks prospect and defenseman Eric Pohlkamp was selected to participate in USA Hockey Boys Select 17s Development Camp taking place in Amherst, N.Y. from June 23-30, 2021.

The Winterhawks would like to wish Pohlkamp good luck this week as he competes with some of the best under-18 skaters in the United States. The camp, in part, will be utilized to evaluate and ultimately select players that will make up the U.S. National Under-18 Men's Select Team that will compete in the 2021 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Breclav, Czech Republic, and Piestany, Slovakia from August 2-7, 2021.

Most recently, Winterhawks forward Cross Hanas represented his home country at the 2019 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, prior to being selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the second round, 55th overall, of the 2019 NHL Draft.

Pohlkamp (5-10, 195 lbs.) spent the last three seasons playing in Minnesota for Brainerd High where he produced 26 goals and 30 assists for 56 points in 68 games. During the 2020-21 season, Pohlkamp was named an alternate captain and he led his team in scoring as a defenseman.

The Brainerd, Minn. native has also played travel hockey for the last two seasons, most recently with Team Sanford Power where he scored five goals and eight assists in 16 games. Pohlkamp finished his season in the North American Hockey League, playing nine games with the Minnesota Magicians.
