Winterhawks and Compass Oncology Team up for Annual Pink the Rink
January 19, 2016 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Portland Winterhawks News Release
The Portland Winterhawks and Compass Oncology are teaming up again to host the Compass Oncology Pink the Rink & LaRog Ladies Night game on Friday, January 22 against the Seattle Thunderbirds in the Moda Center to help raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research.
For the second consecutive year, fans can purchase special commemorative pucks that could be used during the game. Each puck will be inscribed with the name of a loved one affected by breast cancer, and the fans who purchase these special pucks will receive a second, non-game used puck also inscribed with the name of their loved one.
Forty of these one-of-a-kind pucks will be available for $50 each, and can be purchased by going to winterhawks.com/pink. There will also be an additional 100 limited edition Compass Oncology Pink the Rink pucks available the night of the game for $20 each. Proceeds from sales of the pucks will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Oregon and Southwest Washington.
"The Winterhawks are honored to host the annual Pink the Rink game in conjunction with Compass Oncology for a third year," said Portland Winterhawks President Doug Piper. "Fans will have a variety of opportunities to help the team raise funds for this special cause, including purchasing personalized pucks to honor loved ones who have been affected by this disease, and much more at Friday's game."
"We are excited to partner with the Winterhawks again this year to support breast cancer education and raise funds for organizations like Komen who help people living with breast cancer," said Dr. Lucy Langer, medical oncologist, Compass Practice President and Director of the Compass Genetic Risk Evaluation and Testing Program. "We look forward to a great turnout for the cause."
Fans can purchase game-worn jerseys, team-signed sticks, autographed photos as well as the commemorative pucks that night, with all proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Oregon and Southwest Washington.
In addition to the festivities of the Compass Oncology's Pink the Rink night, there will be promotions geared towards all of the ladies in attendance, including a $5,000 bracelet giveaway, for the LaRog Jewelers Ladies Night. Radio station 105.1 The Buzz will also be in attendance at the game.
Tickets can be purchased at winterhawks.com, the Winterhawks' ticket office inside Veterans Memorial Coliseum, at the Rose Quarter Box Office, and all TicketMaster outlets, including Fred Meyer. Group tickets include free Winterhawks hats starting at only $18 each while ticket plans begin at $90 each and include free Winterhawks scarves.
