Portland Winterhawks News Release

Hawks Happenings On The Ice:

??- NHL Central Scouting released its midterm rankings for the 2016 Draft today, and two Winterhawks made the list:

forward Rodrigo Abols came in at #121 among North American skaters, while defenseman Brendan De Jong

checked in at #181. Abols has 26 points in 36 games this season, and led Latvia to a win in Division I of the World

Junior Championship and a promotion to the main tournament next year. De Jong has five points this season in

his second campaign with the team.

??- The Winterhawks' penalty kill has been outstanding of late, not having given up a power play goal in five straight

games. Portland is a perfect 17-17 on penalty kills in that five game span, and over nine games this month is 29-

32 while killing penalties (90.6%). The stingy penalty kill this month has the Hawks up to seventh in the WHL in

the season standings with a success rate of 82.7%.

??- With two wins in three games over the weekend, the Hawks moved into third place in the U.S. Division, within

just three points of Seattle for second place. Seattle takes on Saskatoon tonight, and then the Hawks and

Thunderbirds meet in a home-and-home set Friday at the Moda Center and then Saturday in Kent. The two teams

have eight head-to-head matchups remaining over the final two months of the season.

Hawks Happenings Off The Ice:

??- Winterhawks players Michael Bullion, Keegan Iverson, Skyler McKenzie and Evan Weinger will be at a Les Schwab

in Vancouver Wednesday to sign autographs and meet fans. The appearance will take place from 4:30 "" 6 p.m. at

the Schwab located at 216 SE 118th Avenue in Vancouver.

??- Saturday's game in Seattle will be televised live on Portland's CW32. Todd Vrooman will have the play-by-play,

while Andy Johnson will join him as the analyst. It's the first of four remaining television games this season, all

four of which will be Seattle games as the two teams jockey for playoff position.
