Frederick Keys News Release

Winston-Salem 2B Dale Mollenhauer never stopped running, scoring from second base on a groundball to first base breaking a tie in the bottom of the ninth inning as Frederick fell 5-4.

The heads up baserunning play left the Keys with a second straight late innings defeat to drop its second half record to .500 (21-21). Frederick is now five games back in the north, trailing both Potomac and Wilmington.

In the back and forth affair the Keys tied the game in the fourth inning after trailing 2-0.

SS Pedro Florimon led off the inning with an infield hit and scored on 3B Brandon Waring's RBI-double. Waring would later score on an infield single by 1B Robbie Widlansky to tie the game. Waring went 3-for-4 on the night.

Frederick took its lone lead in the sixth inning on a solo shot to left-field by C Caleb Joseph. It was his 10th home run of the year, becoming the second Key to reach double digit home run totals.

Frederick lost its lead and trailed 4-3 into the seventh inning when DH Matt Tucker blasted his third home run of the season over the left-center field wall tying the game at 4-4.

The Keys conclude the series Sunday, August 9th at 5:00 p.m. at Wake Forest Ballpark with RHP Kenny Moreland on the hill. Coverage begins with The UPS Store Pre-Game Show at 4:40 p.m. on The Keys Baseball Network.
