Lonnie Chisenhall promoted to Double-A Akron

Kinston, NC - K-Tribe third baseman and Eastern North Carolina native Lonnie Chisenhall is headed to Double A Akron. The 2008 first round draft pick of the Cleveland Indians leaves the Carolina League ranked in the top five in six different offensive categories.

Chisenhall leads the Carolina League in RBI (79), is second in extra-base hits (46), third in home runs (18) and slugging percentage (.492), fourth in doubles (26) and fifth in hits (107). The Carolina League All-Star and two-time Carolina League Player of the Week ends his K-Tribe career with a .276 batting average in 99 games played.

The 20-year-old Pitt Community College product joins an Akron Aeros team in the thick of a playoff race. Managed by former K-Tribe player, coach and manager Mike Sarbaugh, Akron has the third best record in all of Minor League Baseball with a 70-43 mark. Akron is currently in first place by seven games in the Eastern League Southern Division.

The Kinston Indians are on a season high four game win streak as their homestand continues tonight! The Saturday Night Special features a lunch bag giveaway sponsored by Bojangles and WNCT-TV. The first 1,000 fans receive a free lunch bag! Game time 7pm against the Salem Red Sox!

The homestand ends on Sunday, August 9th with Family Fun Day. A pregame autograph session with select K-Tribe players starts at 1:15 pm and kids get to run the bases after the game. Game time 2pm.
