Wilmington Blue Rocks News Release

HISTORY:The Blue Rocks have the look of a team peaking at the right time. After losing nine of their first 14 contests with the Potomac Nationals in 2009, the Rocks have taken two in a row. The Blue Crew's 8-1 win on Friday gave Wilmington sole possession of first place in the CLNorth for just the second time all season. The only other day Wilmington had alone atop the division came back on April 21. The team's 63-45 overall record leads the loop. The victory was the Rocks' 12th straight overall, setting a new franchise record. The Rocks have now outscored Potomac 13-2 over the first two games of this pivotal August series. Wilmington has 23 hits in the two wins compared to seven for the P-Nats.

DOMINANT DOZEN:Over their 12 consecutive wins, the Blue Rocks own a .286 (112-for-391) batting average, a 2.00 ERA(24ER in 108.0IP) and have outscored their foes 60-26 (5.0-2.2/g).

THE CHASE CONTINUES:The CLrecord for consecutive wins is 16, set by Winston-Salem in 1950. The modern-day mark (post-1960) is 14, set by Salem in 2006. The Rocks ended the streak with a 4-1 road win over the Avs on August 30.

WHAT A RELIEF!:The Rocks' bullpen tossed 2.1 more scoreless frames on Friday. Rocks' relievers have now thrown 32.2 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run. The unit has allowed just one unearned tally over that stretch.

ROCK CHIPS:Clint Robinson's two-homer game marked the second time he left the yard multiple times in a contest. It was only the fourth such performance by any Rock this season. Entering Friday, a Blue Rock posted at least three hits in a game 40 times. Paulo Orlandobecame the first to notch four knocks with a 4-for-5 showing. Orlando now has 14 multi-hit games since June 16 and has hit safely in eight of his last nine contests, lifting his batting average to a season-best .266. Nick Van Strattenwent 1-for-5 on Friday to extend his hitting streak to nine games. Over the streak, he has hit .313 (10-for-32). Derrick Robinsonlogged his fifth straight multi-hit game, going 3-for-5 with three runs batted in. Over that time, he has hit .522 (12-for-23) with four extra-base hits, nine RBIs and five runs scored. The "Floridian Flash" has lifted his batting average to .240, his best contact clip since June 30. L.C.:Fittingly, a team boosted by an influx of youth during the winning streak had its newest member finish out the record-setting triumph. In the ninth, the Royals' fifth-round draft pick this year, Louis Coleman, did not allow a single baserunner and struck out two in his Advanced-Adebut.

FINAL FOUR:Wilmington pitching retired the final 15 Potomac batters. The P-Nats have managed just one baserunner over the final four frames of both games on the series so far. Potomac placed just three men on base all night on Friday. DIDYOUKNOW?:The Blue Rocks have won four straight at Pfitzner Stadium for the first time since winning their first five games there in 2007.

YOU GOTTA EARN IT:With a 3.20 team ERA, the Blue Rocks are tied for the fifth-best such number in all of full-season MiLB (120 teams).
