DASH POWER PAST HILLCATS 9-2
Joel Booker and Mitch Roman combined to go 6-for-9 with six extra-base hits to pace the Dash offense in a 9-2 win over Lynchburg on Wednesday in front of 7,281 fans, the seventh-largest crowd in BB&T Ballpark history. The Dash struck for three runs on three hits and two errors in the third inning. Booker, who finished 3-for-5 with three RBIs, delivered a two-run double in the third to give Winston-Salem a 2-1 lead. The Dash would add two more runs in the fifth and one in the sixth, with Roman scoring twice in that span. Roman went 3-for-4 with three doubles and three runs scored. Blake Rutherford, who celebrated his 21st birthday on Wednesday, crushed a bases-clearing triple to extend Winston-Salem's lead to 9-2 in the eighth.
MORE ON BOOKER AND ROMAN
In a lineup filled with offensive stars, Booker and Roman have been two of the Dash's most consistent hitters so far this year. Booker, who was a 22nd-round pick by the White Sox out of the University of Iowa, is second in the Carolina League in average (.355), and he is fourth in the league in on-base percentage (.430) and slugging percentage (.553). Meanwhile, Roman, who was a 12th-round pick out of Wright State, leads the league in on-base percentage (.440) and is third in average (.344).
ADOLFO EARNS CL POM AWARD FOR APRIL
Dash outfielder Micker Adolfo turned a strong month of April into the Carolina League's Player of the Month award, the league office announced Thursday. Adolfo becomes the first Winston-Salem player to earn a monthly honor from the league since Nick Basto was named the Player of the Month for April of 2016. In 24 April contests, Adolfo, who is rated by MLB Pipeline as the 10th-best prospect in the White Sox system, posted an impressive .308/.369/.549 batting line. His five homers were tops in the circuit, while his 21 RBIs were tied for the best in the league. Entering play Thursday, Adolfo is tied for the Carolina League lead in homers (five) and is second in the circuit in RBIs (22). Meanwhile, his slugging percentage (.574) is third-best in the league and his batting average (.319) is seventh-best. Adolfo was signed by the White Sox as an international free agent at the age of 16 in 2013.
BASABE NAMED SOX CO-MILB POM
Dash outfielder Luis Basabe, who is rated by MLB Pipeline as the 13th-best prospect in the White Sox organization, was named the White Sox co-Minor League Player of the Month for April, along with Winston-Salem alumnus Seby Zavala. Basabe shined through his first 21 games, posting a .313/.400/.614 batting line, leading the Carolina League in slugging percentage and ranking eighth in batting average. The 21-year-old also leads the league in total bases (51), and he is tied for the league lead in extra-base hits (14) through the first month of the season with Adolfo.
OFFENSE IS ROLLING AGAIN
Following back-to-back five-hit efforts, which were tied for the lowest total in a game for the Dash offense this season, the unit has re-established themselves as the best in the 10-team circuit with solid performances on Tuesday and Wednesday. Winston sits alone atop the Carolina League in several offensive categories, including batting average (.285), on-base percentage (.367), hits (249), slugging percentage (.448) and doubles (64).

After dropping two of three against Lynchburg at City Stadium from April 24-26, the Dash will go for a sweep of their Northern Division foe.
