DASH DROP SUNDAY MATINEE TO SALEM

Despite a two-run bomb from Gerson Montilla, the Dash fell in Sunday's series finale with Salem 8-3 at BB&T Ballpark. The Red Sox jumped out to a 5-0 lead through four, but the aforementioned homer from Montilla pulled the Dash within two in the sixth. However, Salem responded with one in the seventh and two in the eighth to clinch its second straight series win at BB&T Ballpark. Dash starter Spencer Adams worked into the seventh, but he gave up a career-high 10 hits that led to six runs.

BASTO'S GONE

The reigning Carolina League Player of the Month is no longer on the circuit. The White Sox announced Monday that Nick Basto has earned his first ever promotion to Double-A Birmingham. Basto hit .345 with five homers and 18 RBIs in 30 games with the Dash. He led the Minors with 39 hits in the month of April, which led to the club's first monthly honoree since 2013. In his Double-A debut Monday, the former fifth-round pick went 2-for-5 with an RBI in the Barons' 9-8 home win over Jackson.

ENGEL RETURNS TO DASH

The corresponding move netted Winston-Salem one of its best players during last season's run to the Carolina League postseason. Outfielder Adam Engel returns to the Dash from Double-A Birmingham, with whom he hit .170 with six RBIs and 12 stolen bases. Last season with Winston-Salem, Engel hit .251 with seven homers and 43 RBIs in a league-leading 136 games, the highest total by a CL player since 2011. The Louisville product was third in the Minors with 65 steals.

SINCE WE LAST SAW HIM

While Engel did struggle in Double-A, he had a phenomenal fall with the Glendale Desert Dogs of the Arizona Fall League, a prospect showcase in October and November. Engel hit .403 (27-for-67) with nine RBIs and 10 stolen bases en route to the MVP award, joining the likes of Kris Bryant (Cubs) and Nolan Arenado (Rockies).

REMATCH OF GAME 3

Tuesday's pitching matchup is a rematch of the deciding Game 3 of last year's Southern Division Championship Series. Myrtle Beach's Jonathan Martinez surrendered just an Engel two-run homer over six frames for the win, while Brandon Brennan surrendered four runs in 6.2 innings in a losing effort. The Pelicans clipped the Dash 4-3 to advance to the Mills Cup Finals, during which they swept Wilmington 3-0.

NO COOKIES FOR YOU

The Dash and Pelicans square off for a fourth series on the young season from Tuesday to Thursday. Last week in the Triad, Myrtle Beach earned just the sixth sweep for an opponent at BB&T Ballpark since the facility opened in 2010. Despite the Birds' strong showing last week, the season series is still very close since the start of last season. Myrtle Beach possesses a 21-17 edge during this time frame, and the last 13 games have been decided by three runs or less.

MAYBE IT'S A LOUD NEIGHBOR?

After posting a 244-178 (.581) record at BB&T Ballpark in the facility's first six seasons, the Dash are off to a 3-14 start at home this year. Two of the six all-time sweeps for opponents have come this season, while the Dash have lost five straight home series at the facility for the first time ever. In fact, this marks the first time that Winston-Salem has lost more than two consecutive home series since at least 2004 (MiLB records are available from 2005-present).

DASH DOTS

Mason Robbins' eight-game hit streak came to an end on Sunday after an 0-for-4 effort...During his hitting streak, Robbins was 11-for-31 (.355) with three RBIs...It was one game shy of the longest by a Winston-Salem hitter this season (Basto, April 21-30)...Brennan left his last start on Wednesday against Myrtle Beach in the fifth inning after a line drive hit his right hand...The Dash took two of three from the Pelicans on the Grand Strand from April 11-13.
