Potomac RHP Erick Fedde (1-3, 7.15) at Carolina RHP Max Povse (2-2, 2.97)
The Mudcats open up a new seven game home stand tonight with game one of a three game series against the Potomac Nationals. The Nationals are the High-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals and come in at 16-12 this season. Potomac is currently 5.0 games back of first place Lynchburg and in second place in the Carolina League Northern Division standings. Carolina is 12-17 this season and currently in third place in the Southern Division race. The Mudcats are 8.5 games out of first, 3.0 back of second and 2.0 games ahead of the last place Dash.
RHP Max Povse starts for the Mudcats in tonight's series opener against the visiting Nationals. Povse enters at 2-2 with a 2.97 ERA over five starts this season. He snapped a streak of four straight quality starts after allowing five earned runs over 3.2 innings his last time out in Salem on 5/3. The Red Sox collected five hits against Povse and reached base via walk four times over the first four frames of what became a 15-3 drubbing of the Mudcats. Povse's earned run average climbed from 1.69 to 2.97 after his last start. He is currently 9th in the league in ERA, 2nd in WHIP (0.92) and 2nd in average against (.187) this season... RHP Erick Fedde starts for Potomac tonight in the series opener. Fedde is 1-3 and has pitched to a 7.15 ERA over five starts and 22 and 2/3 innings pitched this season. Fedde also comes in as the Carolina League leader in Highest SO/9ip ratio (11.51).
Tonight's game begins at 7:00 p.m. at Five County Stadium in Zebulon, NC and will air on the Mudcats Radio Network with the pregame show beginning at 6:45 p.m.
