DASH FALL 2-1 DESPITE 10 HITS
Despite 10 hits and a quality start from Jonathan Stiever, the Dash fell 2-1 against the Salem Red Sox on Saturday night at Haley Toyota Field. The Red Sox jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, thanks to a Pedro Castellanos double and Edgar Corcino sacrifice fly. But, Stiever and the Dash bullpen held Salem scoreless for the remainder of the ballgame. Winston-Salem scored its only run in the top of the fifth, as Steele Walker drove in Mitch Roman with an RBI single.
RECAPPING THE FIRST HALF
With a victory against Carolina on June 16, Winston-Salem clinched its third-best first-half winning percentage (.594) in the Dash era (2009-present). The Dash also ended the first half in second place in the Southern Division. By posting a .594 winning percentage, the 2019 team trailed only the 2012 club (.637) and 2010 team (.614) in first-half finishes.
WALKER, OKLAHOMA SOONER
Selected by the White Sox in the second round of the 2018 MLB Draft, Walker is coming into his own in Winston-Salem. Rated the 10th-best prospect in Chicago's system per MLB Pipeline, Walker is now 24-for-65 (.369) with three home runs and 15 RBIs over his last 15 contests. As a part of the recent hot stretch, Walker hit for the third cycle in Dash history against Carolina on June 14, and the first Dash cycle since April 27, 2016. Although his older brothers Sam and Trevor played college football at the University of Texas, Walker chose to play baseball at the University of Oklahoma.
FISHING FOR HITS
Following a 1-for-4 performance on Saturday, Jameson Fisher now owns an eight-game hitting streak. During the hitting streak, Fisher is 10-for-31 with a home run, double and five RBIs. Along with five other Dash players, Fisher was named a Midseason Carolina League All-Star. It was the first career all-star selection for Fisher. The current eight-game hitting streak is a season high for the Louisiana native.
DASH STARS TO PLAY IN FUTURES GAME
Former Dash infielder Nick Madrigal and outfielder Luis Robert have been tabbed to play in the 2019 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, which will take place on Sunday, July 7, at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio. The game will feature Madrigal as a member of the USA Team and Robert as a member of the World Team. At the start of the season, the two top-50 overall prospects per MLB Pipeline played in Winston-Salem. Both have since moved up to Double-A Birmingham after impressive runs in the Twin City. Robert posted a staggering .453/.512/.920 batting line with eight homers and 24 RBIs in Winston-Salem in 19 games before being promoted, while Madrigal recorded a .313/.385/.448 line over his last 17 games with the Dash. Since being promoted, Robert has registered a .320/.368/.528 batting line with seven homers in 48 games with the Barons. Meanwhile, Madrigal is off to a hot start with Birmingham, as he is 28-for-73 (.384) in his first 19 games.

Right-hander Kade McClure will make his fifth start for Winston-Salem on Sunday against Salem. Over his first four High-A starts, McClure has posted an 1.90 ERA, though he allowed four earned runs in his last outing against Myrtle Beach on June 25. McClure recorded a stretch of 20.2 scoreless innings that lasted from his High-A debut on June 2 until his last outing. In 10 starts with Low-A Kannapolis, McClure posted a 3.09 ERA across 55.1 innings of work. The righty was selected in the sixth round of the 2017 MLB Draft out of the University of Louisville.
