DASH PLATE RECORD 19 RUNS MONDAY

Behind a Dash-record (2009-present) 19 runs on a season-high 20 hits, Winston-Salem dominated Frederick in a 19-2 win at Nymeo Field on Monday. The Dash exploded for nine runs on seven hits in the ninth inning to reach two historic totals. In that frame, Laz Rivera blasted his first career High-a homer and collected his career-high fifth hit of the night, Yeyson Yrizarri hit a grand slam, and Micker Adolfo smacked an RBI single to tally his fourth run batted in of the contest. Each batter in the Dash lineup registered at least one hit and one run scored. On the mound, right-hander Blake Battenfield tied a career-high with eight innings of work, allowing seven hits in two runs to pick up the win in his High-A debut.

A NIGHT TO REMEMBER

The Dash's 19 runs scored eclipsed the franchise's previous best mark of 18 runs, which was accomplished in an 18-5 win at Wilmington on July 1, 2016. Several separate milestones were also reached in the Dash's offensive onslaught:

Nine-run ninth: tied Dash-era record for most runs in an inning

Laz Rivera: tied Dash-era record with five hits and five runs in his 5-for-5 performance

Meanwhile, here are some season-best marks that were accomplished:

Seven hits in the 9th inning: new season-high

Seven doubles in the game: tied a season-high

Laz Rivera: tied season-high with three extra-base hits

Blake Battenfield: tied a season-high for a Dash starter with eight innings pitched

MORE ON MONDAY'S BIGGEST STAR

Rivera, who was selected by the White Sox in the 28th-round last year out of the University of Tampa, has been one of the best offensive players in the system this year. Prior to joining Winston last Thursday, Rivera led the South Atlantic League with a .346 batting average and was named a SAL All-Star. Among full-season White Sox farmhands, Rivera leads the bunch with a .349 average.

A NEW STAR IN WINSTON-SALEM

Rated the 24th-best overall prospect by MLB Pipeline, Luis Robert is 5-for-16 with two runs scored and an RBI to start at the High-A level. Robert, who was promoted to Winston on Thursday, began the year on the Dash's disabled list with a sprained ligament in his left thumb before being transferred to Low-A Kannapolis, where he posted a line of .289/.360/.400 with four RBIs in 13 games. Chicago signed Robert in May of 2017 for $26 million. Robert is wearing #21 due to a suggestion from Dash manager Omar Vizquel, who said Robert reminded him of baseball legend Roberto Clemente. Despite being hit on the foot on Monday, Robert left the contest due to a managerial decision, with the team leading by 10 at the time of his departure.

A PERSON TO BANK(S) ON

Left-hander Tanner Banks will toe the slab on Tuesday for the Dash against the Keys. The former 18th-round pick has been on a roll as of late, having ripping seven consecutive victories and posting a 1.91 ERA in the process. Banks was a Carolina League All-Star with the Dash a season ago, and he's now in his third go-around with the team. More information is available on page 3.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

After 14 days of either playing at home or on break, the Dash are on the road for a nine-game swing, which is their longest stretch away from BB&T Ballpark this season. On Tuesday, Winston-Salem will be in the midst of a five-game series against the Frederick Keys at Nymeo Field. The Keys finished in second in the Northern Division in the first half with a 35-34 record, and the ballclub is off to a 1-4 start in the second half.

DASH DOTS

Luis Gonzalez, the White Sox third-round selection in 2017, went 3-for-6 with four runs scored in the Dash's win on Monday...Rated the 18th-best prospect in the White Sox system by MLB Pipeline, Gonzalez is 6-for-13 at the High-A level with six runs scored in his first three games.
