RAIN POSTPONES OPENER AT LYNCHBURG

Due to significant rain in the area, Tuesday's scheduled game against the Lynchburg Hillcats at City Stadium was postponed. As a result, the clubs will square off in a doubleheader on Wednesday, with first pitch set for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday's scheduled matchup on the mound will remain the same for the opener, as right-hander Dylan Cease will get the ball in game one for Winston-Salem against Hillcats righty Zach Plesac.

NICE TO BE ON THIS SIDE OF .500

The Dash's current 10-8 start marks the first time since 2011 that the team is above .500 at the team's first scheduled off day. Winston-Salem was 4-2 to begin the 2011 season before having its first off day. Despite getting off to slow starts since then, the Dash have managed to reach the postseason twice (2012 & 2015).

STARS IN THE OUTFIELD

Coming into the season, the Dash were slated to have one of the most talented outfields in Minor League Baseball. That has proven to be the case, with several Dash outfielders ranking among the best in the Carolina League in several different offensive categories. The Dash outfielders possess four of the top eight batting averages in the circuit. Here's an overall look at the numbers in the Carolina League for this group:

Micker Adolfo: (.319 AVG, eighth), (three HRs, T-third), (14 RBIs, T-third), (.528 SLG, fourth), (nine extra-base hits, T-third)

Joel Booker: (.377 AVG, best in the Carolina League)

Luis Basabe: (.339 AVG, fourth), (.627 SLG, first), (.443 OBP, third), (10 extra-base hits, T-first)

Blake Rutherford: (.364 AVG, third), (seven doubles, T-second)

OFFENSIVE NUGGETS

The Dash offense has staked their claim as the best in the 10-team circuit. Winston sits alone atop the Carolina League in several offensive categories, including batting average (.287), hits (176), on-base percentage (.376), slugging percentage (.442), doubles (41) and homers (14).

DEM CATS

Wednesday's twin bill marks the first meeting between the Dash and the Hillcats this year. Winston-Salem will square off against Lynchburg only six times in 2018, which is the least amount of games for the Dash against an opponent this season. Winston-Salem will host the Hillcats for the only time this season from May 1-3. The Dash are 81-86 all-time against the Lynchburg franchise.

CEASING TO STRUGGLE

Cease, who is rated the fifth-best prospect in the White Sox system, will start game one of Winston-Salem's doubleheader. Originally a sixth-round pick with the Cubs in 2014, Cease was traded to the White Sox last July, along with three now-former Dash players (Eloy Jimenez, Bryant Flete and Matt Rose), in exchange for big league left-hander Jose Quintana. The righty was a non-roster invite to 2018 White Sox Spring Training.

TAKE TWO FOR DANNY

Right-hander Danny Dopico will make his second spot start of the season in game two on Wednesday. The former FIU closer has only made two previous starts in his career, with the latter of two occurring on April 8 against Carolina. An 11th-round pick by the White Sox in 2015, Dopico is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA so far this year in four outings. Following a tough go-around with the Dash in 2016 (0-3, 7.80 ERA), the righty responded with a solid 2017 campaign with Kannapolis (3.25 ERA in 39 games).

DASH DOTS

The Dash have celebrated three birthdays over the last three days - Athletic Trainer Josh Fallin (Sunday; 43 years old), first baseman Gavin Sheets (Monday; 22 years old) and manager Omar Vizquel (Tuesday; 51 years old)...During his time in the Majors, Vizquel was 20-for-58 (.345) on his birthday with a homer, three doubles and four RBIs...He also had hits on eight straight birthdays from 2000-07.
