
Winston-Salem Comeback Falls Just Short against Asheville

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Winston-Salem Dash fell just short of extending their win streak to seven, in a 4-3 loss to the Asheville Tourists.
Both sides received excellent outings from their starters.Matt Thompson gave the Dash five shutout innings while allowing just a pair of Asheville base hits. For the Tourists, Spencer Arrighetti fired six scoreless frames of his own, along with seven punchout
Asheville finally broke through in the sixth inning.Jordan Brewer stepped up with Deury Carrasco on first, and launched a ball over the wall in left-center to give the Tourists a 2-0 edge.
They tacked on two more runs in the seventh. First, on a J.C. Correa single to score Zach Daniels. Then, Deury Carrasco tripled to plate Nerio Rodriguez.
In the eighth, the Dash started to get going against Asheville pitching. Harvin Mendoza lead off the inning with a home run, then Tyler Osik doubled. With two outs, Oscar Colas dug in and he drilled an 0-2 pitch out to right field. All of a sudden, the Dash trailed just 4-3.
However, Asheville sent the Dash down 1-2-3 in the ninth to even up the series at a game apiece
.Spencer Arrighetti earned the win, and Jordan Mikel took the loss.
