ABERDEEN, MD - Aberdeen blanked the BlueClaws 4-0 on Thursday, giving the IronBirds a third straight win to start their six game series.
Aberdeen (13-5) is now 6-0 against the BlueClaws (6-12) so far this season.
After Jersey Shore starter Jhordany Mezquita threw four scoreless innings for the BlueClaws, the IronBirds broke through in the fifth off Andrew Schultz (0-3). Colin Burns singled in a run to open the scoring before Cesar Prieto brought home Burns with a ground-rule double.
Coby Mayo homered in the eighth off Jason Ruffcorn, his fourth home run of the series and fifth of the year against the BlueClaws.
IronBirds starter Justin Armbreuster threw 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing three hits with a walk and four strikeouts. Wes Robertson (1-0) got one out, enough to earn his first win of the season. Noah Denoyer struck out four over three innings of scoreless relief.
Carlos De La Cruz had two hits for the BlueClaws. Jared Carr stole his seventh base, giving the BlueClaws 49 on the year in just 52 attempts. They have stolen at least one base in all 18 games so far this year and lead the minors in stolen bases.
The BlueClaws return home on Tuesday to start a six-game series with Hudson Valley (Yankees).
