Greenville Drive News Release
Greenville, SC - The Greenville Drive headed into the ninth inning up 3-2 but suffered a tough 4-3 loss to the Hickory Crawdads due to Chris Seise's homer that brought Angel Aponte home with him.
Hickory's RHP Marc Church claimed the win after pitching two innings and the Drive's Ryan Fernandez suffered the loss.
Greenville showcased four pitchers in tonight's outing.
The game started with a Hickory run in the first inning on an RBI from Keybar Rodriguez. The Drive wouldn't answer until the third inning.
Ricardo Cubillan found first on four balls. Tyler McDonough then reached base on a fielder's choice and Cubillan was safe at third on a throwing error. Cubillan came home off a hit from Ceddanne Rafaela. McDonough followed behind thanks to a single from Matthew Lugo.
Bottom of the third, Thomas Saggese grounded into a double play, but Randy Florentino leveled the score from Saggese's hit.
Gilberto Jimenez homered one to right field in the fourth to put the Drive on top. The next four frames remained scoreless until Hickory secured the victory in the bottom of the ninth.
The Greenville Drive will continue the series tomorrow at 7:00.
