WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today added another talented wide receiver to its roster by signing Billy Wingfield.

Wingfield (5-10, 181, Boise State '02, DOB: July 30, 1981 in Gardena, CA) comes to the Big Blue after most recently trying out for the Chicago Bears.

"Billy was a very productive player during his college career at Boise State," said Brendan Taman, general manager & vice-president of football operations for the Blue & Gold. "He is a very dependable receiver that catches everything."

THE NFL YEARS - 2003 - CHICAGO BEARS The NFL's Chicago Bears signed Wingfield as an undrafted rookie free agent Apr. 29, 2003. The Bears released Wingfield July 28, 2003.

THE COLLEGE YEARS - BOISE STATE BRONCOS Wingfield played his college football for the Boise State Broncos. When he left the Broncos, he was one of the school's all-time leading receivers.

In his senior season, Wingfield made big play after big play. He caught 62 pass for 1,138 yards and seven touchdowns. He also ran the football four times for 41 yards.

He was a prime factor in the Broncos 34-16 victory over Iowa State in the 2002 Humanitarian Bowl. He hauled in five passes for 64 yards to put his team in scoring position several times.
