Hood hangs out in Hamilton

Hamilton Tiger-Cats News Release

As training camp moves ever so closer, the Tiger-Cats have added yet another player to their roster, one that has ties to the CFL, and to Hamilton.

Errol Hood is a 26 year-old cornerback, who was born in Lenior, North Carolina. And, like many football players, there were disagreements when it came to the issue of playing football.

"I didn't start playing football till my sophomore year in high school," he recalled. "My mother didn't want me playing and it took some convincing before she finally agreed."

Errol must have done something right, because, the offers for football scholarships came soon after. And one of those offers, came from a name that's becoming familiar to Hamilton fans.

"Jamie Baressi (Hamilton offensive co-ordinator) was at Wake Forest at the time, and he was the first person that offered me a scholarship," said Hood.

He eventually decided to attend the University of Carolina. After graduating in 2002, the five-foot-ten and 200 pound Hood played two games with the Montreal Alouettes, and after taking last season off, is looking forward to competing for a spot on the roster.

And, he's also looking forward to his post-playing career, where he has two goals.

"I really want to own my own landscaping company, because I enjoy working outside," he said. "I've been a manager of a group home, so, I'd also like to work with kids."

Hood will be at Tiger-Cat training camp, which begins May 22.
