Aberdeen Wings News Release
The Odde Ice Center was jam packed with Wings fans, totaling 1,561. The Aberdeen Wings fell short the night before 3-1 to the Magicians, but were looking forward to the night. The Wings however would be without forward #12 Austin Heakins (F-Mars, PA) and #14 Collin Hughes (F-Lino Lakes, MN), and forward #8 Drew Doyon (F-Indianapolis, IN) who received a fighting major the night before.
In the first period, the Wings would strike first with a goal from #19 Colin O'Neill (F-Odenton, MD) with assists from #16 Kyle Haak (F-Okemos, MI) and #10 Tanner Okeson (D-Roseau, MN). But the Wings wouldn't stop there. At the 13:15 mark, similar to last night, Wings forward #13 Michael Soucier (F-Caledon, Ontario) would score on the power play with assists from #11 Victor Ostling (F-Stockholm, Sweden) and #17 Will Hammer (F-St. Cloud, MN). The Wings outshot the Magicians 13-4 in the first period.
With a 2-0 lead, the Wings didn't hold back. At the 8:18 mark in the 2nd period, Wings defenseman #15 Brendan Riordan (F-Downers Grove, IL) would score from the blue line thanks to assists from #16 Kyle Haak and #21 Bjorn Sigurdarson (F-Reykjavik, Iceland). The Wings would tack on another shortly afterwards on a tip in from #25 Tucker DeYoung (F-Lake Bluff, IL). The goal would come off a hard shot from #19 Colin O'Neill and pass from #7 Zac Goodrich (D-White Lake, MI) who were both credited with assists. Late in the 2nd period, the Magicians would get on the board with a goal from Austin Reuschhoff.
With a 4-1 lead, the Wings would surrender a goal in the third period from Spencer Kuhlman which trickled in deflecting off three or more players in front of the net. The Wings would hold on for the 4-2 victory. Wings goaltender #1 Chad Catt (G-Williamston, MI) would stop 25 of 27 shots.
