Wenatchee Wild News Release
With the ending of this series, Wenatchee has picked up the two remaining points for this weekend and will return to the Town Toyota Center with a 3-2 overtime win in tow. Starting their win streak before the faceoff against the Ice Rays, the Wild have put the right foot forward and are making their way to the top of South Division. After earning this win, Wenatchee is only 7 points out of the highly sought after 4th place position. Tyler Rockwell and Dakota Raabe were rewarded with the 1st and 3rd Stars of the Game, along with that, they represented many of the great plays performed in tonight's match.
Cody Wickline gave Lone Star their first point of the game thirty eight seconds into the opening period. Sean Giles and Pat Eagan had the assists on the first period's lone goal.
Seven minutes and twenty two seconds after the middle frame's initial puck drop, Oskar Andren put the Brahmas on a 2-0 lead. Due to intense competition, this was also the lone goal of the period and it was assisted by Ludvig Larsson and Alexey Solovyev.
The first Wenatchee point of this game was scored at the 9:16 minute mark of the third period by the Wild's August Van Ungem-Sternberg with the help he received from Dakota Raabe and Dan Bailey. Closing Lone Star's lead, Dakota Raabe scored a power play goal twelve minutes into the period that would tie both teams up with two points. Colin Burston and Tyler Rockwell were credited with assistance on this point.
Heading into the overtime period, Rockwell scored the game winner two minutes and twenty three seconds after the end of regulation time. David Powlowski and Andre Pison collected the last assists of the night.
Wenatchee ended the night tying the Brahmas for shots on goal with 21 each and went 1 for 7 on the power play. Eight Wild players were called out for infractions and these skaters were Dakota Raabe (Tripping), Dan Bailey (Tripping), Jake Ahlgren (Abuse of Officials (Misconduct)), Mike Coyne (High Sticking), Chris Jones (Roughing)x2, Brendan Harris (Unsportsmanlike Conduct), Colin Burston (Slashing), and Troy Conzo (Checking from Behind).
Zach Quinn was in goal for Wenatchee tonight, and while playing 61:35 minutes, he stopped 19 shots on goal out of 21.
Bliss Littler stated, "Hung in long enough to get the points tonight. We were about twenty seconds from having a great weekend. We got 5 of a possible 10 points on this two week road trip to Topeka and Lone Star. Proud of the battle level we showed."
Wenatchee's next series against Corpus Christi will take place in the Town Toyota Center on January 16th and 17th. Both games have a 7:05 pm PST puck drop, don't miss out!
