Home Win Streak Ends at 19 with 3-2 Loss to Wild

The Lone Star Brahmas entered Saturday night's game against the Wenatchee Wild looking to extend their home win streak to 20 games. In game one of the series onFriday night, they pulled one out of the fire when Oskar Andren scored his fourth of the night with 17.3 seconds to go to complete a big come from behind win. Wenatchee used a dominating first period to go into the first intermission holding a 3 - 0 advantage. Andren and the Lone Star offense took over from there.

The Brahmas got on the board early Saturday at only 38 seconds into the first. Following a faceoff in their own end, AJ Vanderbeck jarred the puck loose at the in front of the Brahmas bench and sent if off the far wall to Pat Egan. Egan went streaking down the left wing, circled the net and fed it to Sean Giles at the point. Giles ripped one on net that Cody Wickline redirected in front blocker side on Zach Quinn for the early lead.

Andren made his case for the NAHL Easton South Division Player of the Week honor when he continued his torrid weekend with a goal at 7:22 of the second. The play got started when Alexey Solovyev sent the puck to Ludvig Larsson at the near halfwall and he danced through the defense before sliding it to Andren in the high slot. Andren's wrister was in the twine before Quinn could get a glove on it.

Wenatchee finally broke through at 9:16 of the third when August Van Ungem-Sternberg went barreling into the zone on a lone man rush and Kurt Thiele was unable catch him. His shot got past TJ Black glove side. Assists on the play went to Dakota Raabe and Dan Bailey. After a roughing penalty to Johan Steen put Wenatchee on the power play, Raabe scored off a scramble in front at 12:08. Colin Burston and Tyler Rockwell had the assists.

The two third period goals by Wenatchee forced overtime where the Wild got the game winner on a Rockwell drive through traffic from just inside the blueline. Time of the goal was 2:43 of the extra period from David Powlowski and Andre Pison.

The goal snapped the Brahmas' home win streak at 19 games. However, due to the overtime loss they did pick up one point in the standing this weekend as Topeka and Wichita Falls split their series. The Brahmas now have sole possession of second place in the NAHL South.

Both teams registered 21 shots on goal in the game and Wenatchee went 1 - 7 on the power play while the Brahmas were 0 - 6.
