
'Wings hit hard in loss

Harlingen, TX - The Alexandria Aces (47-28) picked up 15 hits, including three home runs and four doubles to beat the Harlingen WhiteWings (19-55) 10-2 tonight at Harlingen Field.
Bryan Sabatella led off the game with a home run off of Todd Lutz (2-7) down the left field line to make it 1-0 Aces.
The Aces batted around in the third, scoring three runs to take a 4-0 lead. Eddie Fitzpatrick led off with a single and Bryan Sabatella reached on a bunt single. One out later, Selwyn Langaigne hit an RBI-ground rule-double. Brian Nichols followed with a two-run single.
The WhiteWings responded against Ramon Portillo (8-3) in the bottom of the inning. Greg Sillivent led off with a single and Matt Lawman followed with a double. One out later, Amadeo Zazueta reached on an error to score Sillivent. Ryan Fox walked to load the bases and David Cardona drew a walk to force in Lawman, making it 4-2.
Brian Nichols led off the fifth with his second home run of the series and 11th of the season to make it 5-2. Larry Bethea led off the sixth with a walk and Homy Ovalles followed with his sixth home run to make it 7-2. Lutz would record only one more out.
Rafael Ozuna led off the seventh with a walk against Bobby Darling. Andre Marshall followed with a single. They attempted a double-steal, but Ozuna was thrown out at third. One out later, Ovalles hit an RBI-single to make it 8-2.
With one out in the eighth, Luis Guance singled, Langaigne doubled and Nichols walked. Rafael Ozuna hit a sacrifice fly and Marshall hit a two-run double to make it 10-2.
The WhiteWings travel to San Angelo for the first of three tomorrow night at 7:05. Left-hander Bryan Herrera (0-3) will face left-hander Logan Williamson (9-4).
