Wichita Wingnuts News Release

Wichita, KS- Joe Muich hit his first home run of the season, a walk-off shot in the 13th, leading the Wingnuts to a 4-3 win over the Sioux Falls Canaries on Wednesday at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.

Trailing 1-0, Sioux Falls got on the board with a three-run double by Trevor Lawhorn in the fifth inning, before Wichita scored single runs in the sixth and seventh. Wichita's tying run came on a wild pitch by Patrick Lawler.

After that the bullpen took over, as five Wingnuts relievers combined to pitch eighth scoreless innings. Sioux Falls had a golden opportunity to score, putting a man on third in the 11th with no outs, but Ronald Morales and Tyler Rhoden retired the next three batters to end the threat. Rhoden pitched the final 2 1/3 innings to earn the win, while Kyle Zaleski faced just one batter - Muich - to take the loss.

Wichita, 5-1 and 2 1/2 games up in the Northern Division, will host the Sioux Falls Canaries at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday in the season finale. Will Savage will get the start. For tickets call the Wingnuts office at (316) 264-4625.
