WICHITA, KS- The Wingnuts offense exploded in record fashion tonight, taking a 16-2 victory over the Shreveport Sports at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.
Leading 4-0 in the sixth, Wichita sent 15 batters to the plate, scoring 12 runs. Blake Gailen started the inning with a two-run double and finished it with a three-run home run.
Nine Wingnuts players scored tonight and Chris Colton (4-4) reached base all five times he came to the plate. Newcomer Leivi Ventura reached base four times and scored twice.
Leonard Landeros pitched 6 2/3 innings to record the victory. The Wingnuts, now 23-20, will host the Sports again tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. For tickets call the Wingnuts office at (316) 264-4625.
