Fort Worth, TX (06.23.08) - The Grand Prairie AirHogs ended a six game win streak on Monday, dropping a 9-1 ballgame to the Fort Worth Cats.

The Fort Worth Cats got on the board in the bottom of the first with a 1-0 lead thanks to some smart base running by lead off man, Bryan Fryer. He reached on a single into shallow right field. Fryer proceeded to steal second and then third, scoring on a wild throw that sailed into left field from catcher, J.B. Tucker. Ken Lup led off the bottom of the third inning with a ground-rule-double over the wall in left field. He advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Cameron Blair. With two away, Ed Montague chipped a line drive into shallow left center to put the Cats ahead 2-0.

Fort Worth added a run in the bottom of the fourth inning with a line drive solo homer to left field off the bat of Nelson Teilon. Grand Prairie finally got on the board in the top of the sixth inning. With runners on first and second and two away, Noel Trevino laced a grounder through the right side to bring in Drew Holder for the AirHogs lone run.

The Cats blew open the game in the bottom of the sixth, scoring three runs to go ahead 6-1. With the bases loaded, Chris Homer walked Lup, allowing John Allen to trot in for the first run of the frame. Cameron Blair followed with a hard hit grounder down the third base line, off the backside of Edwin Maldonado's mitt, allowing Aaron Sisk and Charles Carter to come in. In the bottom of the seventh, Fort Worth used three walks to bring in three runs with the bases loaded to take the 9-1 lead. Grand Prairie walked eight batters combined in the sixth and seventh inning.

Justin Garcia (4-2) was the losing pitcher for the AirHogs, going five innings allowing four runs, three earned, with seven hits and one strikeout. Ryan Riddle earned the victory for the Cats in seven innings of solid work. He allowed one earned run, off of four hits while striking out two.

Fort Worth's win clinched them the first half Southern Division title locking up a spot in the postseason for the third consecutive season. The AirHogs will play at Fort Worth again on Tuesday night.
