Sioux Falls 10, St. Paul 9

With Sioux Falls leading 8-7 entering the ninth inning, the Canaries added a pair of runs to build the lead to 10-7. It wasn't over yet, though, as St. Paul scored two runs of its own, but came up a run short and fell 10-9. Sioux Falls C Paul Smyth led the way offensively. He was 2-for-5 with a pair of home runs and five RBI. Canaries reliever Josh Kite picked up his first win. He allowed just one hit in the eighth inning. Sioux Falls closer Kris Regas saved his league-leading 14th game of the year despite allowing two runs in the ninth. The win for Sioux Falls stretches its lead to three games in the North Division over St. Paul.

Sioux City 9, Lincoln 2

The Sioux City Explorers were in control of this one throughout as they out-hit their opposition 10-5 en route to an easy win on the road. Explorers LF Chad Gabriel led all hitters. He was 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI. Sioux City RF Anton French also had a nice game, going 1-for-5 with a three-run homer. Cameron Cheek allowed two runs on three hits and struck out two in six innings of work to pick up the win and improve to 2-1 on the year.

El Paso 5, Wichita 2

@ Wichita, KS. Time: 2:47 Attendance: 2,248

El Paso got a good outing from starting pitcher Jusef Frias to hand Wichita the loss at home. Frias allowed two runs on seven hits and fanned a pair in six innings to improve his mark to 3-2 on the season. Diablos 3B Bryon Smith led the way offensively. He was 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. El Paso reliever Mike Cervera came on for the last out of the ninth to pick up his fourth save of the year. 1B Stephen Pearson had a nice game for the Wingnuts, going 3-for-4 with an RBI in the losing effort.

Grand Prairie 2, Shreveport 1 (12 innings)

@ Grand Prairie, TX. Time: 3:07 Attendance: 2,392

After eleven scoreless innings, the Shreveport Sports finally broke the ice with a run in the top half of the 12th to put themselves within three outs of ending the marathon. Not to be outdone, however, the Grand Prairie AirHogs answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame to steal the victory. Grand Prairie starting pitcher Nat Harris pitched very well, allowing just two hits and striking out five in seven scoreless innings, but did not factor in the decision. Instead it was AirHogs reliever James Morrison that picked up the win, evening his record at 1-1 on the year.
