Wingnuts Fall Twice to Lincoln

LINCOLN, NE- The Wichita Wingnuts dropped the first two games of their three-game series against the Lincoln Saltdogs, falling 8-3 in the completion of Friday's suspended game and 7-3 in the nightcap of a Saturday double header.

With the game tied at 1-1, the teams resumed in the bottom of the third after Friday's game was suspended due to rain. The Saltdogs went ahead on an RBI single by Steve Alexander in the bottom of the fourth off of Doug Hurn. Greg Porter homered in the top of the fifth to tie the game, but Josh Burruss hit a two-run shot in the bottom of the inning to put Lincoln in front for good. Leading 4-3 in the eighth, the Saltdogs plated four more runs, including a two-run homer from Deacon Burns.

In the second game, the Wingnuts again took an early lead on a hit by Greg Porter, this time a long home run to right-center field. Lincoln scored twice in the second to take the lead, but RBIs from Brenan Herrera and Porter in the third gave the Wingnuts a 3-2 advantage. Lincoln scored twice in the fifth to move in front 4-3, and once again broke it open late, scoring three times in the bottom of the sixth in the seven-inning game.

Dustan Mohr had hits in both games to extend his hitting streak to 12. Josh Horn singled in game one, before having his hitting streak stopped at nine in the nightcap.
