In the completion of the suspended game from July 3rd, Lincoln used a balanced offensive attack and a quality relief appearance from a starting pitcher to down Wichita 8-3. Four Saltdogs contributed two or more hits including 3B Brandon Jones who went 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. CF Josh Burrus and RF Deacon Burns each homered in the contest for Lincoln, with Burns' long ball coming in a four-run bottom of the eighth inning that put the game away. Lincoln's Jarrett Gardner came on in relief of starter Jonathan Figueroa in the fourth inning and worked four innings for his sixth win of the season. He struck out three and allowed two earned runs on eight hits. Wichita 2B Brenan Herrera and RF Pat Brooks each had three hits for the Wingnuts in the loss.

In the regularly scheduled game, Lincoln scored five late runs to overcome a 3-2 deficit and defeat Wichita 7-3. Starter Jim Paduch was outstanding for the Saltdogs as he went 6 2/3 innings and allowed three earned runs while striking out five. Closer Chris Thompson got the final out for his 16th save.
Lincoln CF Josh Burrus stayed hot with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate as he scored two runs and drove in three. Wichita's Greg Porter, who left the yard in the first game, went deep again and increased his homerun total on the season to nine.

Grand Prairie 6, Sioux Falls 5

After Grand Prairie saw an early 5-1 lead turn into a 5-5 tie, C JB Tucker singled home the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the AirHogs a 6-5 victory over Sioux Falls. Tucker had three hits in the game as did 3B Cesar Nicolas and LF Aaron Garza, who also drove in three runs for the AirHogs. Grand Prairie reliever Luke Prihoda tossed 3 1/3 innings of one-hit ball as he struck out three to earn his third victory of the season. Canaries starter Ben Moore went five innings, allowed five earned runs on 10 hits, and received no decision.

El Paso 7, Shreveport-Bossier 5

In front of an Independence Day crowd of over twelve thousand, El Paso rallied from an early 4-1 deficit to defeat Shreveport-Bossier 7-5. CF Kennard Bibbs led the way from his leadoff spot in the order as he finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a RBI. 1B Juan Camacho added two hits and a RBI for the Diablos as well. Starter Nick Martin scattered 10 hits in seven innings of work and allowed just three earned runs to get the win and improve to 2-4 on the season. Dane DeLaRosa worked the ninth inning for his first save. Captains starter Ronald Lowe pitched six innings and struck out six but surrendered five earned runs on eight hits to drop to 3-5 on the season.

Sioux City 4, St. Paul 1

In a game where pitchers had the edge, Sioux City strung together three hits in the bottom of the seventh inning to score twice and break a 1-1 tie on their way to a 4-1 win over St. Paul. Explorers starter Ty Marotz turned in a solid performance as he struck out six in 6 1/3 innings and allowed just one earned run on four hits. Reliever Steve Andrade and closer Brett Reid worked the final 2 2/3 with Andrade getting the victory and Reid collecting his 12th save. Mark Moriarty went six innings for the Saints and allowed three earned runs on four hits. He took the loss however to drop his record to 1-2.
Explorers 2B Alex Llanos was the only player in the contest with more than one hit as he finished 2-for-3.
