
Wingnuts add experience to roster

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Wingnuts added experience and power to the lineup tonight, signing former Wichita Wrangler Jose Amado.
A 33-year-old veteran infielder out of San Cristobal, Venezuela, Amado played for the Wichita Wranglers in 1999 and 2000. He hit .290 in 1999 with a career-high 13 home runs and 93 runs batted in. Amado duplicated those power numbers and batted .339 in 2004 with Bridgeport of the Atlantic League. He spent last season in the Mexican League and has hit over .300 in each of his last five seasons.
Over his minor league career, he is a .299 hitter with 68 home runs and 509 RBI's. Amado will be in the Wingnuts lineup on Friday when they battle the first place St. Paul Saints. To make room for Amado, the Wingnuts released Geoff Wagner.
