AirHogs outlasted by El Paso

Grand Prairie, TX (06.05.08) - The Grand Prairie AirHogs fell to the El Paso Diablos 5-1 to close the series.

The AirHogs were the first ones on the board in the bottom of the second with David Espinosa blasting a solo home run over the left field wall grabbing Grand Prairie's only run of the inning.

El Paso was finally able to answer Grand Prairie in the top of the eighth. Alex Derhak slammed a double down the left line. He gained the run after Kory Drew smashed a stand up triple to left center tying the game at 1-1.

The lights went out at QuikTrip Park in the middle of the eighth. The game was postponed, but the AirHogs resumed play with the lights throughout the stadium still flickering.

In the top of the ninth, the Diablos took the lead with a solo home run blasted over the left field wall by J.D. Reineger. Diablos pulled further ahead with a RBI double by Mathew Kent. Bryon Smith followed with a two run homer setting the score at 5-1.

Grand Prairie came back in the bottom of the ninth to load the bases, but they were unable to bring anyone home.

Nat Harris started for Grand Prairie pitching seven innings with four strikeouts, two hits, no runs, one walk, and one error.

Chris Homer (0-2) got the lose pitching 0.1 inning with one strikeout, three hits, three runs, no walks, and no errors.

Josh Neitz started for El Paso pitching seven innings with six strikeouts, five hits, one run, two walks, and no errors.

Jusef Frias (1-1) got the win throwing 0.1 inning and one pitch for the Diablos.

Grand Prairie will take the road to play the Pensacola Pelicans on June 6 at 6:35p.m.
