
Windy City sweeps Evansville 7-1

(CRESTWOOD, Ill.) - Former Evansville pitcher Andrew Werner pitched seven innings Thursday night as the Thunderbolts defeated the Otters 7-1 at Standard Bank Stadium.
Both teams were held scoreless over three innings as Werner and Otters starter Chris Peters battled into the middle innings.
Vinnie Scarduzio brought home the first run of the game on an RBI single to left field in the fourth inning.
Windy City then rallied on an odd number of events in the bottom of the inning. With two outs, Zach Aakhus reached on a strikeout and wild pitch. Mike Mooney then lofted a fly ball to left field that got lost in the lights. Aakhus scored on the play as the game was tied at one.
The Thunderbolts stormed ahead with four runs in the fifth inning and another two more in the sixth on the way to a 7-1 victory.
Vinnie Scarduzio finished 2 for 4 in the game with a pair of runs batted in.
Werner (8-2) earns the win after allowing just one run over seven innings. Chris Peters (1-10) receives the loss after yielding seven runs in 5 13 innings. The decision sets a new single season record for losses in a year by an Otters pitcher.
Windy City has now won 15 straight games at home as the Thunderbolts are 43-30 this season.
With the loss, Evansville is currently 28-45. The Otters return home to play the Kalamazoo Kings tomorrow night in a 6:35 start at Bosse Field.
