
CornBelters Comes Alive in Rubber Match

NORMAL, IL - The Normal CornBelters, presented by the Illinois Corn Farmers, picked up their second straight win in as many nights against the visiting Lake Erie Crushers Thursday night by the score of 7-0. With the win Normal has won two straight and four of their last five.
Starter Dan Blewett picked up where previous CornBelters' starters have left off going six innings only allowing two hits and striking out two while keeping Lake Erie off the scoreboard. Jordan Backes and Zachary Cole each worked out of the CornBelters' bullpen to nail down the win.
Normal took a 2-0 lead in the second inning before exploding for five runs in the fifth inning to give themselves the final total. Daniel Cox put the game out of reach in the fifth with a three run blast onto the left field berm knocking in Brad Agustin and Ben Petralli. Cox finished the night 1-4 with the three RBI while Jeff Cowan went 2-4 with a run batted in of his own. Other CornBelters knocking in runs were Steve Alexander who had a 2-4 night as well as Agustin and Cowan.
Normal will now take to the road for the next six games starting off with a series against the Washington Wild Things with the opening game set for Friday night starting at 6:05 local time.
