Windsor Spitfires News Release
(Windsor, ON) - The Windsor Spitfires are proud to announce a charitable commitment from Windsor Honda as part of the club's MVP Program, through which AKO Fratmen received a donation of $1,000.
Windsor Honda Owner Ken Eansor says he's proud to support the dedication and hard work of Fratmen Head Coach Mike Morencie.
"Coach Morencie, I really respect him," Eansor said. "These are impressionable young men he leads. It's very important for us to help teach them life's little lessons. They may not use them today. But hopefully, down the road, something may click. And they may say 'I remember that'. And maybe, down the road, they can make a difference in the community themselves. A difference in someone else's life."
Morencie says the involvement of community partners like Windsor Honda helps the Fratmen program immensely, making the arduous process of fundraising a lot easier.
"For a guy like Ken at Windsor Honda to step up, it saves us a lot of valuable time," Morencie said. "He had a very good knowledge of amateur sport. He knows how hard it can be and especially how hard the corporate side of things can be."
Prior to the third period of this past Monday's game versus Sarnia, Spitfires General Manager Warren Rychel presented a cheque to AKO Fratmen on behalf of Windsor Honda and the Windsor Spitfires Foundation.
Windsor Honda was also recognized in a feature video presented on the WFCU Centre's Jumbotron during an intermission break.
