Bulldogs Fall to Spirit

SAGINAW, MI. - The Hamilton Bulldogs (14-18-3-0) snapped a three game winning streak as they fell 8-5 to the Saginaw Spirit (16-17-2-1) Wednesday night at the Dow Event Center.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring as Adam Laishram scored his 5th of the season 7:25 into the first period. The goal came after Mason Marchment was robbed by Spirit goaltender Evan Cormier, but the 'Dogs kept pushing for the first goal of the game.

Michael Cramarossa and Mason Marchment picked up the assists.

Saginaw then scored four unanswered including goals from Tye Felhaber, Connor Brown, Cole Coskey, and Artem Artemov all in the first period.

Hamilton cut the lead in half just 3:26 into the second period when Michael Cramarossa picked up a rebound off a Jack Hanley point shot and wrapped it around and in for his 10th of the season. Mason Marchment collected his second assist of the night on the play.

Saginaw would again respond with three more goals. This time it was Matthew Kries, Kris Bennett, and Connor Brown finding the back of the net.

Matt Luff scored his 9th of the season from Ben Gleason and Brandon Saigeon at 8:02 of the third period.

Kris Bennett netted the final goal for Saginaw at 8:20 of the third period to make it 8-3 for the home side.

The Bulldogs would add two more before the end of the game as Ondrej Kachyna scored his 1st OHL goal from Stephen Harper and Maurizio Colella. Then Adam Laishram scored his second of the game at 16:46 of the third period. Again it was Michael Cramarossa and Mason Marchment on the assists.

Hamilton visits the Erie Otters Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the Erie Insurance Arena. The Bulldogs are next at home on Sunday, January 3rd when they welcome the Erie Otters to the FirstOntario Centre for the first time this season.
