Toledo Mud Hens News Release
TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo Mud Hens had it's three-game winning streak snapped as the Indianapolis Indians claimed a 6-2 victory on Sunday evening at Fifth Third Field.
The Mud Hens (26-35) took three games out of the five-game series as the Indians (35-26) stayed ahead in the West Division race.
Indianapolis struck first as Christian Kelley tripled and came in to score on a sacrifice fly by Nick Franklin.
The Indians added a pair of runs in the fourth inning as Pablo Reyes launched two-run home run 428 feet onto Monroe Street as Indy took a 3-0 lead.
In the fifth inning, Ke'Bryan Hayes roped a solo home run giving the Indians a 4-0 advantage.
A pair of doubles in the sixth inning allowed Indianapolis to increase its lead to five runs over Toledo.
For the fifth straight inning, the Indians scored as Kevin Kramer doubled to score Hayes as Indy went up 6-0.
The Mud Hens got on the score board in a big way as Kody Eaves turned on a ball and hit a two-run bomb onto the roost behind the right field wall.
Toledo threatened to score in the bottom of the eighth but could not convert a run after having runners on first and second with no outs.
Indianapolis held on to claim a 6-2 victory to win the final game of the five-game series.
What's Next:
The Mud Hens will take a well-deserved day off on Monday after winning seven of the last nine games. On Tuesday, Toledo will take on the South Division leading Durham Bulls at Athletic Park in Durham, North Carolina.
